We burn a disk. Different methods
Not so long ago, PC users were able to write information to floppy disks with a size of 1.5 mb. But now any redo user can burn a disc with absolutely no problems; for this, a lot of knowledge is not required. Even if you are a novice user, you can easily write any information to your disc.
As you know, disks differ in the format and amount of memory.
Data on discs with the letter R cannot be changed, unlike RW, which can be overwritten more than 1000 times.
Varieties of disc formats:
CD-R (Compact Disc-Recordable, Recordable Compact Disc) is a type of compact disc (CD) developed by Philips and Sony to record information. CD-R supports all the features of the “Red Book” standard and plus it allows you to record data. Volume – 700 mb.
DVD-R is a recordable DVD format. Typically, DVD-R capacity is 4.71 Gb, although the original standard developed by Pioneer assumed a capacity of 3.95 Gb. In any case, both of these values are significantly more than 700 Mb available to CD-R (almost 6.4 times). In addition, Pioneer developed the 8.54 Gb dual-layer DVD – DVD-R DL (dual-layer), which entered the market in 2005. DVD-R is one of three competing formats. The other two are DVD + R and DVD-RAM.
Blu-ray Disc, BD (eng. Blue ray – blue ray and disc – disc; spelling blu instead of blue – intentional) is a disc format used for recording with high density and storing digital data, including high-definition video. The Blu-ray standard was jointly developed by the BDA Consortium. The first prototype of the new media was introduced in October 2000. The modern version was presented at the international Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which was held in January 2006. The commercial launch of the Blu-ray format took place in the spring of 2006.
Blu-ray (lit. “blue ray”) got its name from the use for recording and reading short-wave (405 nm) “blue” (technically blue-violet) laser. The letter “e” was deliberately excluded from the word “blue” in order to be able to register a trademark, as the expression “blue ray” is often used and cannot be registered as a trademark.
HD DVD (English High-Density DVD – High Capacity DVD) is an optical disc recording technology developed by Toshiba, NEC and Sanyo. HD DVD (like Blu-ray Disc) uses standard-sized discs (120 millimeters in diameter) and a 405 nm blue-violet laser with a long wavelength.
What do we need for recording
We need a blank disk (blank) and a writing drive (disk drive). Your drive must be able to write the disc format you want to burn.
How to burn discs using Windows
The Windows operating system, starting with version XP, has gained many useful built-in functions, including burning discs. Even the most novice PC user can do this, because this process is very similar to simply copying files. Just select the discs you want to record and copy them to the disc, that is, open your drive’s icon in My computer and drag and drop the files you need there. Now look to the left – there is the Burn files to CD item.
Feel free to click there and the Disk Burning Wizard appears in front of you. There are very few settings here, indicate the Label – the name of the future disk, and then click on in all the proposed dialog boxes.
Now it remains only to wait for the completion of the burning operation and get the finished disk.
CD-RW discs are recorded in the same way, the only thing you need to do before recording is to erase the disc. This option also appears on the left after inserting a -RW format disc. After cleaning the disc, it is ready for normal recording.
Unfortunately, the functionality of this method leaves much to be desired, since with it you will not be able to burn DVD discs, CDA music format discs, make a one-to-one copy of a disc, and much more. For these purposes, we will resort to the help of special programs for working with disks. One of the best is considered to be Nero by Ahead, which has been developing programs for recording discs for many years.
And so let’s talk about third-party specialized disc burning software.
Well, the most popular program for burning discs is Nero, it allows you to record information on any type of disc (CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD-R DL, Blu-ray).
